General Description:

Glacial Acetic acid is the undiluted form of acetic acid. Using acetic acid as a starting reagent, it readily forms other organic reagents such as acetyl chloride and ethanol though substitution and reduction reactions respectively. Acetic acid can also corrode metals such as iron, magnesium and zinc, forming hydrogen gas and metal acetates.

Application & Usage :

General Description:

Anhydrous form of copper sulfate occurs as mineral hydrocyanite. It exhibits a rhombic crystalline morphology. It decomposes to its oxide at temperatures above 600^oC. Hydrate of CuSO4 is prepared by the addition of dilute sulfuric acid on copper (II) oxide or copper (II) carbonate, blue triclinic crystals of pentahydrate are formed upon crystallization. In industrial preparation of CuSO4, a hot mixture of dilute sulfuric acid and scrap copper is exposed to air flow.

Acetaldehyde is reaction intermediate formed during the oxidative combustion of ethanol and ethyl acetate in the presence of copper oxide embedded on Ce-doped titania surface.
